Bay FC have added a major piece to their defensive puzzle this week, as they announced the signing of 22-year-old Anouk Denton from West Ham United on Monday morning. Denton can play both as a right-back and as a left-back, although West Ham did occasionally use her in a midfield role.

Denton, who has competed at the U17, U19, and U23 levels for England, has played previously under new Bay FC head coach Emma Coates. She also received a senior call-up for the Lionesses back in October.

At the club level, Denton last played for West Ham in December, playing 45 minutes as they tied 2-2 against Liverpool. She appeared in ten of West Ham’s 14 games this season, scoring a single goal.

Denton spent the last three seasons as a regular part of the West Ham lineup, but now she’s heading to the Bay Area.

Quote of the week

“To win the tournament, and to experience the NCAA tournament, that’s top of my bucket list right now. That would just be so exciting, so exhilarating. I cannot wait. It being at home, we all know it’s possible. We all know that we can do it. There’s no doubt in our minds that we’re going to come out in this tournament guns blazing and get after these games because we’re all confident that this tournament is ours.”
